Brief Introduction

Prof. Wenbo Mi received his B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Department of Physics from TianjinUniversity in 2001, 2004 and 2006, respectively. Then he became an assistant professor at Department of Physics, Tianjin University and was promoted as full Professor from 2013. He was the visiting scholar in2008 at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, then he became a Postdoc Fellow in King Abdullah University of Science and Technology for one year. His research interests mainly focus on spintronics, design of low-dimensional functional materials and electronics of organic emiconductor.

The applicant works on the related research in the field of spintronics materials, physics and devices. His research focuses on the high spin-polarized films and its composite structures, and the intention is to satisfy the practical applications in spintronics devices. His main contribution can be summarized as: (1) High-polarized ferromagnetic films (Fe3O4, Fe4N, etc) and its heterostructures were fabricated, and the physical mechanism of magnetoresistance was revealed by analyzing the microstructure, magnetic and electronic transport properties; (2) In ferromagnetic granular films, novel magnetoresistance, anomalous Hall effect and the ordering of L10-FePt have been found, and proper theoretical explanation was given; (3) High-temperature ferromagnetism was observed in diluted magnetic semiconductors, where the origin of ferromagnetism was clarified.

One hundred and Sixty Egiht peer-reviewed SCI papers such as Adv. Mater., JACS, Scientific Reports, Appl. Phys. Lett., Acta Mater, etc were published by the applicant. The papers were cited by other authors with one thousand and three hundred times, in which one thousand and two hundred times from SCI indexed papers. Eight invention patents were applied and seven were authorized. Two national and five provincial foundations were obtained by the applicant as the principle investigator. The Second Prize of Tianjin Nature Science Award was obtaind in 2012. Two books named “Spintronics Basis" published in 2013 and "High Spin Polarized Magnetic Materials" published in 2015.

      In this proposal, the flexible organic spintronics devices with high-polarized ferromagnetic electrodes will be fabricated. The room-temperature magnetoresistance needs to be enhanced. The influence of interfacial diffusion, interfacial reaction, etc on the spin injection and magnetoresistance will be analyzed. The physical mechanisms of the spin injection and magnetoresistance and its dependence on temperature, magnetic field and voltage should be clarified. Meanwhile, the devices will be combined with other flexible organic optoelectronic devices. By adding the degree of spin, the function of the flexible organic electronic devices will be increased, which will provide the possibility of the application in flexible spin-dependent optoelectronic devices.
