个人简介
My name is Jianhua Zhang, from Jiangxi province, a very beautiful place in the south of China. I received my B.S. in Chemical Engineering, M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Materials Science from Tianjin University (One of top universities in China) in 2004, 2007 and 2010, respectively. Due to outstanding performance during the period of study, I obtained a permanent position and started working as a Lecturer at School of Chemical Engineering and Technology in Tianjin University in November of 2010. And then, I was promoted to be an Associate professor at School of Chemical Engineering and Technology in Tianjin University in June of 2015.
Teaching: Since the beginning of my teaching experience, I have continued to integrate innovative teaching techniques, active and collaborative learning into my courses. Most importantly, I regard myself as a co-learner and constantly try to grow, adapt, and respond to the diversity both inside and outside the classroom. I also try to be creative and develop learning environments that will help my students understand and apply key course concepts. In addition, I am supervising 3 Master graduate students. One indication of my commitment was receiving some award, such as Baoshun Excellence in Teaching Award, First Class Award of Lecture Competition in School of Chemical Engineering and Technology as well as Excellent Award of Lecture Competition in Tianjin University.
Research & Grant: My research work mainly focuses on developing novel well-defined polymers by living polymerization and studying their corresponding polymeric nanoscale materials for biomedical applications. I have served as principal investigator (PI) and Co-PI on over 19 projects (over¥7 million, about $1.2 million funding ) funded by National Natural Science Foundation of China, Tianjin Research Program of Application Foundation and Advanced Technology, Ministry of Science and Technology of China, et al. I have proved myself to be an extremely competent, hard-working and self-initiative person. I have had over 100 first-/corresponding/co-author publications and was authorized 4 patents. Among them, over 80 publications were published in SCI-indexed journal, such as Small, Biomaterials, ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, Journal of Materials Chemistry, Biomacromolecules, Polymer Chemistry. These papers have been cited near 1300 times, including some high impact journal, such as J. Am. Chem. Soc., 2013, 135, 2875, Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2014, 53, 6095 and Chem. Rev. 2015, 115, 5274. And I am proud to be invited to take part in ‘Encyclopedia of Membranes’, edited by Enrico Drioli and Lidietta Giorno and published by Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
Service: I am a consistent contributor to several professional organizations (such as the China Medicinal Biotechnology Association, Tianjin Biomedical Engineering Association). I also have been invited to peer-review journal submissions based on my expertise in polymer chemistry and nanoscience (such as Macromolecules, Biomacromolecules, J. Control. Release, Pharm. Res., Inter. J. Pharm.). In addition, I have also served as Vice-director of Department of Polymer Science and Engineering to support academic and teaching activities.
International Cooperation:From July of 2014 to August of 2015, I worked as a visiting scholar in Liangfang Zhang’s Lab in University of California, San Diego. I worked as Co-PI in an international cooperation project on multifunctional tissue engineering scaffolds (NO.2013E5-0003,¥2.52 million).
