个人简介

Minpeng Xu received the B.S. and Ph. D. degrees in biomedical engineering from Tianjin University in 2010 and 2015, respectively. He visited the Tzyy-Ping Jung’s lab at the Institute for Neural Computation (INC) of University of California, San Diego (UCSD) from 2014 to 2015. He is currently an associate professor of Department of Biomedical Engineering at Tianjin University. Dr. Xu and his colleagues developed some advanced brain-computer interface (BCI) techniques that pushed the boundaries of the BCI's speed (Journal of Neural Engineering, 2018), command number (IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering, 2020) and lower limit of detectability (IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering, 2018). He made a significant contribution to the in-space BCI experiment carried out on the ‘Tiangong II’ space station in 2016, which was the first time in history to verify the usability of BCIs in space. His research articles were once selected as TBME cover story, JNE highlight and introduced by Science. He was a recipient of the Young Elite Scientist Sponsorship Program by CAST, first prize of the BCI competition in the world robotic competition, Neuroscan Award, first prize of Tianjin technical invention award and Huang Jiasi Award.

Dr. Xu lays his research emphasis on the modelling of neural oscillations for the development of BCI and neuro-modulation techniques, and on the understandings of Event-Related Potential (ERP) mechanism and brain functions. Currently, Dr. Xu is working on

·                  High-efficiency BCI systems for real-life application;

·                  Decoding methods for high-frequency, high-density and low-amplitude scalp EEG features;

·                  Modeling of dynamic brain responses affected by top-down signals;

·                  Rhythmic sensory stimulation for the enhancement of brain functions.
