Brief Introduction

Liu Duo, an associate researcher at the School of Life Sciences, Tianjin University. He has undertaken 2 national key R & D projects / sub-projects, 1 natural Science Foundation youth project, and participated in 1 natural Science Foundation emergency management project, 1 international cooperation project and 1 general program project. He has obtained achievements in genome synthesis, DNA assembly methods, and cell factory construction. He has established oligonucleotide linker-assisted multigene assembly and library construction strategy, established heterologous multigene assembly integration strategy in oleaginous yeast , and he is the module assembly technology head involved in the construction of Tianjin university synthetic biological elements module library SynbioML@TJU. He has constructed the yeast cells for production of carotenoids, violobactericin, caffeic acid, resveratrol. He has published a series of papers as first author / corresponding author in Chemical Society Reviews, ACS Synthetic Biology, Biotechnology for Biofuels, Microbial Cell Factories etc.

Education Background
  • Doctoral degree| Tianjin University| Biochemical Engineering| 2017
  • Bachelor’s Degree| Tianjin University| Biological Engineering| 2009
Research Interests
  • Synthetic biology strategies to modify cells for medical therapy direction:
    (1) Synthetic genomics: design, synthesis, assembly, transfer and functional reconstruction of large segments of the genome, establish relevant key technologies, and study the disease mechanism and treatment.
  • (2) Synthetic cell factory: engineer the yeast genome, establish the synthetic pathways of natural products such as terpenoids, flavonoids, caffeic acid phenylamine and other drug precursors with anti-inflammatory and antitumor activities, and build a drug production cell factory.
  • (3) Synthetic cell diagnosis and treatment: transform tool cells for disease sensing, diagnosis and treatment.
