Over the past scores of years, Guizhong Zhang has accomplished, as the principal investigator, three state-level research projects under the auspices of the National Science Foundation of China, one project from the Young Teachers Fund under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, one project from the Overseas Fund under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, one project from the Fok Ying Tung Foundation of the Ministry of Education, and four projects under the auspices of the Municipal Tianjin Government. Also, he has dedicated to research in a dozen of government-contracted research projects. He was honored with the US United Technologies Awards. He has authored or co-authored around a hundred articles. He has mentored twenty plus graduate students of both PhD and master degrees. He is currently indulged in investigating interaction of intense light with matter, optoelectronics and photonics.
