Abstract:We presented a systematic evaluation for the use of Photoplethysmography (PPG) in detecting blood
components, such as hemoglobin, albumin and blood glucose. Method: According to the modified Beer-Lambert Law and the
simplified measurement model based on NIR spectroscopy, the detection limit for the interested components in blood was described
in an equation. The values of the three factors of the equation, which were the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of transmitted light
intensity, the optical path-length and the molar extinction coefficients of the blood components, were evaluated in this paper
