Dr Zhengxian Liu is an academic staff in the Department of Mechanics, Tianjin University, China. Her main research area includes numerical investigation of the internal flow in turbomachinery, the optimum design of the centrifugal compressors, turbulence modelling methods for complex aeroengine internal flow, the aero-performance improvement of turbocharging, the comfort and pollutant transport in aircraft cabin, etc.
Dr Liu has developed a strong research track record by leading (as principal investigator) one ‘National Key Basic Research Program of China’ project, two ‘National Natural Science Foundation of China’ projects, one ‘The state key laboratory of internal combustion engine burning’ project and several industry projects. She has published 50+ peer reviewed papers and secured several millions of RMB in research funding. She is supervising/supervised 2 PhD candidates and 10+ MSc students.
Dr Liu has developed a strong reputation as an active researcher in the national arena. She is the vice-director of the Department of Mechanics, Tianjin University, a Committee Member of Tianjin Mechanics Society and a member of editorial board of the Journal of Turbomachinery Technology.
Dr Liu was awarded the Best Paper Award for Journal of Building Simulation (2016), Tianjin Science and Technology Progress Award (2015), Du Qing-Hua Medal and Award of Mechanics and Engineering (2014), and China Machinery Industry Science and Technology Award (2014).
