Pengfei Liu is a research fellow whose primary focus of study is on Biomedical Photonics. He completed a DPhil in mechanical engineering with a thesis entitled “theoretical and experimental study on fluid hydrodynamic fixed abrasive grinding” in the Bin Lin group at Tianjin University. Meanwhile, he moved to Kishan Kholakia’s group in University of St Andrews, UK, to pursue his postdoctoral research, including laser transfection, digital holographic microscopy, light sheet microscopy with diverse beam shaping strategy. He moved back Tianjin University, China, in 2019 and joined the Dong Ming group with a lecture position directing a new research strand, ultra-optical penetration with light sheet microscopy and the utilizations in brain and neuron science.

He has been awarded over ¥0.5M in Research Funding and have delivered >10 Invited/Plenary/Keynote talks since 2019. He has also successfully supervised 5 students to Master level. He has 12 publications (first/ corresponding author) including 5 JCR Q1 family journals.
