Dr. Wang Juan is a position scientist in the National Chinese Medicinal Materials Industry Technology System of the Ministry of Agriculture, a young talent of Tianjin, and a "Beiyang Scholar" of Tianjin University. Professor of the School of Pharmacy, Tianjin University, Doctoral Supervisor, and Secretary of the Youth League Committee.
Mainly engaged in the research of traditional Chinese medicine biotechnology. It has undertaken more than 10 research projects related to important Chinese medicinal materials resources, chemical biology and synthetic biology, including those funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Key Research and Development Program, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Agriculture and Tianjin Municipality. With the research objective of biotechnological production of active ingredients, a tissue compartmentalized biosynthesis map of ginsenosides was constructed for key scientific issues such as the compartmentalized synthesis map of plant metabolites, the catalytic mechanism of key enzymes, and the interaction mechanism between plants and microorganisms. Through precise regulation, the production of rare ginsenosides was efficiently achieved. Xylosyltransferases with substrate and sugar donor confounding properties have been discovered in microorganisms, and a variety of natural product derivatives can be obtained. It has been discovered that plant symbiotic microorganisms have extremely strong potential for the synthesis of terpenoids and other compounds, laying the foundation for drug development. Some of the achievements have already been transformed into practical applications in enterprises. In the past five years, more than 30 SCI papers have been published as the first or corresponding author in journals such as Advanced Science, Plant Biotechnology Journal, Materials Today, and Chemical Engineering Journal. Obtained 3 patents, participated in the compilation of 5 books, edited 1 book, and won the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award in 2019.
