Liu Fei is currently a Tenured Distinguished Associate Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at the Center for Sustainable Development, School of Earth System Science, Tianjin University. I received a Bachelor of Engineering in Remote Sensing Science and Technology from China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) in 2013, along with a Bachelor of Arts in Japanese Language as a minor from Huazhong University of Science and Technology. In 2018, I earned a Master of Science in Earth Science from the University of Tsukuba, Japan, where I also completed supplementary coursework in World Heritage and Natural Conservation. I obtained my Ph.D. in Geo-environmental Science from the same university in 2021, graduating as an Outstanding Doctoral Student Representative and receiving the Award for Excellent Research Achievement from the Graduate School of Life and Environmental Sciences.
From 2021 to 2025, I served as a Research Associate at the Center for Climate Change Adaptation, National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES), Japan. There, I contributed to the Japanese Ministry of the Environment’s national research project S-18, “Integrated Research on Climate Change Impact Assessment and Adaptation Strategies.” My research focuses on interdisciplinary studies of urban sustainable development using geospatial analysis, with specific interests in urban remote sensing, urban ecological security, ecosystem services, climate change impacts, and adaptation strategies. In recent years, I have published over ten papers in internationally renowned journals in the fields of remote sensing, environmental science, and climate studies, and have delivered more than 30 oral presentations at leading international conferences in the geosciences.
