Dr. Zhiyuan Shi is a Professor and Principal Investigator at the School of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology, Tianjin University. She earned her B.Sc. in Biology from the University of Göttingen, and her M.Sc. in Medicine and Ph.D. in Chemistry from RWTH Aachen University, Germany. She previously worked at the University of Cologne on bispecific antibody development before joining Tianjin University in 2023.

Her research focuses on Polymer mechanochemistry for controlled drug release (Sonopharmacology) and Cancer Immunotherapy, pioneering mechanosensitive switch structures to control drug properties and actions via ultrasound and other mechanical forces. She has developed innovative mechanochemical prodrug activation systems, with results published in Nature Chemistry, JACS, and other leading journals.

Dr. Shi has received multiple honors, including the National Award for Outstanding Self-financed Students Abroad, Summa Cum Laude, and the Borchers-Plakette for an outstanding doctoral dissertation.
