On December 18, 2015, the New Year's Party for Scholars and Experts of the National Thousand Talent Program, Chang Jiang Scholars Program, National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, and National Distinguished Teachers was held at Weijin Road Campus. Approximately thirty scholars attended. Vice President Shu Gequn, Vice Chairman Wang Yan as well as leaders of the Publicity Department and Trade Unions participated in the celebration.
Vice President Shu stated that, acting as the backbone of the development of Tianjin University, the combined talents have made an outstanding contribution to education and teaching, scientific research, development of the base and training of talents. Under the joint effort of all faculty and students, the university in every aspect has obtained significant achievements. 2015 is an extremely memorable year for Tianjin University with the progress in scientific research, the successful hosting of conferences, the 120th Anniversary celebrations, as well as the commencement at a new campus. He hoped that the experts could continue to play a leading role in education and research, and achieve further successes next year.
On behalf of the Trade Unions, Vice Chairman Wang said that the party was aimed at expressing their sincere greetings and best wishes to the experts and establishing a communication platform for them to contribute to the development of Tianjin University. Meanwhile, the Trade Unions is the "home" of every faculty. He hoped the faculty could make use of the facilities in the activity center to carry out the research team's meetings and academic exchanges.
During the celebration, the experts held an in-depth discussion on research and talents training. By sharing their personal research experiences and directions, they expressed their intention to strengthen the academic exchanges by cooperating with teachers from different disciplines. In addition, the focus of training post-graduate students and doctorate candidates in research areas, laboratory management, and students' safety and assurances were discussed.
During the party, a "Guess the Campus Photos" Competition was held. Then the experts presented their new year's blessing by reading poems they had written and singing songs.
The party came to an end in a happy atmosphere. Attendees expressed that it is really a great pleasure to communicate with experts from other subjects. Moreover, they hoped to see more exchange activities held, so as to develop a long-term exchange platform.
The New Year's Party for Scholars and Experts of the National Thousand Talent Program, Chang Jiang Scholars Program, National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, and National Distinguished Teachers is held every two years and to date three sessions have been successfully held. Focusing on the development of Tianjin University, and to promote the exchange and development of different groups the Trade Unions has innovatively established various platforms including the "Jiao Feng Forum", "Female Professors Forum", "Summer Camp Practice of Outstanding Young Teachers" and "New Year's Party".
