In order to explore and promote experimental teaching reforms of fundamental chemistry and chemical engineering as well as the developmental mode and Level of virtual simulation experimental teaching, Tianjin University, authorized by the Association of National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center in Higher Education, held a Forum on National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center in Higher Education in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering and virtual simulation experimental teaching at the Peiyang Park Campus from November 20 to 23, 2015.
Attendees included Zhang Lixin, Assistant to the President of Tianjin University, and executives from relevant offices. Other attendees included invited executives from the Ministry of Education, Tianjin Municipal Education Commission, Association of National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center in Higher Education, and approximately 150 Directors and faculty of the National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Centers from over 50 colleges and universities around China.
The representative from the Ministry of Education gave a report on the construction of the virtual simulation experiment teaching centers. He verified the concepts for the development of the experimental teaching demonstration centers and the virtual simulation experimental teaching centers, which focused on planning scientifically, sharing resources, and developing sustainability.
Representatives at the forum discussed the challenges facing experimental teaching of fundamental chemistry and chemical engineering, ways to highlight innovative education in the course of fundamental experiments, how to improve the quality of experiments; strategies to improve virtual simulation experiments and avoid low-level, duplication oftasks through corporation between universities and enterprises, fostering the corporation between universities; and the problems regarding the sharing of resources. The forum will play a positive role in the application and construction of the National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center and the Virtual Simulation Experimental Teaching Center.
