On the afternoon of December 14, 2018, Associate Professor Yan Jin, from Queen's University of Belfast (QUB), visited the School of Mechanical Engineering of Tianjin University, and had a vivid discussion with the school's faculty and students. Cao Shuqian and Jiao Kui, deputy deans of the School of Mechanical Engineering attended the meeting. Other participants include Qin Xuda, director of the mechanical discipline, representatives of and two students from the 2018 CSC Excellent Undergraduate International Exchange Program.
At the beginning, teachers of the Mechanical Engineering and Yan Jin exchanged ideas on the "1+1+1" Graduate Joint Training Program. The two sides held discussions on the feasibility of the project, the target, the form of development, the communication and match between the teachers of the two schools and other issues. Besides, they also solicited opinions of the two undergraduate students. The two sides finally agreed to start from the pilot program and apply for school funding as much as possible.
Next, Yan Jin broadcasted promotional videos of QUB and summer camp. He introduced the summer camp including curriculum, schedules, accommodation, fees, and etc. He also showed great expectation for the summer camp cooperation with the School of Mechanical Engineering of Tianjin University. Deputy dean Cao Shuqian expressed his wishes to create all kinds of opportunities for students to study and exchange abroad.
Later, Deputy Dean Jiao Kui expressed warm welcome for short-term or long-term studies and exchanges of students from Queen's University of Belfast to Tianjin University and the necessity to strengthen communication and exchanges between the teachers of both schools. He also suggested that both sides should go great length to provide students of either side with more convenient and quicker ways to accept education abroad. Jin Yan expressed his strong support and his will to spare no efforts to achieve it.
Finally, Yan Jin exchanged views with two students of the 2018 CSC Excellent Undergraduate International Exchange Program. He patiently answered the questions and concerns of the two students about the upcoming British life, and expressed warm welcome for the two students.
