Forum on the Development of Educational Disciplines in Comprehensive Universities Held

The first forum on the Construction and Development of Educational Disciplines in Comprehensive Universities was unveiled at the Meng Minwei Lecture Hall in Tsinghua University (THU). It was co-organized by the Tianjin University School of Education, the THU Institute of Education and the Peking University School of Education on April 21, 2019. More than 170 people including education school deans from universities and colleges all over China and experts and scholars in higher education attended the conference.

Professor Yan Guangfen, Dean of TJU’s School of Education who led the TJU delegation to the conference delivered a report entitled "Developing Educational Disciplines in Comprehensive Universities: Context, Contradiction and Tension". Professor Yan analyzed the crisis educational disciplines were facing in developing and serving the university community from the aspects of context, interweaving, reform and practice. Her point of view that disciplines should serve the development of the university was widely discussed and unanimously approved by the participants. Professor Yan introduced TJU’s experience developing educational disciplines and offered a new perspective for the construction and development of educational disciplines in comprehensive universities.

At the conclusion of the meeting, it was also announced that the second Forum would be hosted by TJU’s School of Education this coming autumn.
