Dong Hao graduated from Tianjin University’s College of Management and Economics (CoME) with a bachelor degree this June. He received an offer from TCL TSCH and is now engaged in work related to quality management in manufacturing field as he studied Industrial Engineering at CoME.

While at school, he served as the chairman of the Youth League of the College of Management and Economics. He was also the student representative of Tianjin University, student assistant of PhD faculty counselor and the captain of the team “Seeking the family Tradition all over the Country” in their college.

He also won more than ten awards, including three-good student of Tianjin University, outstanding student leader in TJU, advanced individual in social practice, club activities and moral model, excellent chairman of association of the College of Management and Economics, summer excellent practice team in Tianjin (group award), civilized dormitory in TJU (group award).

“Others do things,we do things better!”

Dong Hao still remembered vividly what the sophomore student who was helping them adjust to college life during the orientation week said when he tried to explain to the new comers what their major Industrial Engineering was about. “Others do things, we do things better.” “I was amazed then and I couldn’t agree more after four years of study,” Dong said. Industrial Engineering is an interdisciplinary subject that combines engineering, mathematics and management science and involves a wide range of knowledge. Dong had no idea about the requirements to master a wide range of knowledge until he came across the cultivation plan of the project. Then he realized the slogan“Others do things,we do things better!”couldn’t be more precise and appropriate.

“All the time I am accustomed to get familiar with things in various aspects and the subject system of Industrial and Engineering suits me well. A broad range of subject knowledge also provides more choices for me in the future.”

“Rome was not built in one day”. Dong was fully aware that college life was a key period to equip oneself with knowledge and experience needed in future work.

“Our university has always aimed to cultivate distinguished talents who love their country and possess a global vision, innovative spirit and practical ability. We integrate individual ideas into the great dream of national rejuvenation. As the nation is striding forward to become a strong manufacturing country, I think students majoring in industrial and engineering should dedicate to the promotion and application of industrial and engineering,” Dong said. He has been enrolled by TCL Group after graduation.

“We should experience something unique when we are young,” Dong said when he recalled two social practice activities that left an indelible mark on his college life.

In the summer of 2017, he joined a voluntary team and went to Jinfeng Town, Xinhua County, Hunan Province to teach at the local school. He still remembers vividly the innocent smile children bore, how nervous he was when giving the first class, the cheers and laughter after class and the unique memory when he squatted outside of the canteen to have lunch with students. He tried his best to help children there like setting up a mini-library with 262 kilos of books and making a documentary filmWe are in Jinfengto attract more people to boost the local education.

In the summer of 2018, Dong served as the leader of the college’s summer social survey team digging into folk family traditions all over the Country. He recruited a total of 61 students to join the team and conducted surveys in 11 provinces and cities nationwide. They interviewed hundreds of people including professors and scholars, curators of family tradition museum, staff at the resort, national civilized families and strangers on road and collected more than 1,000 questionnaires. As the leader of the team, he not only developed a better sense of responsibilities, but also marveled at how much concerted efforts could achieve.

Dong has lived a busy but fruitful life at college.

"No one knows what the future holds for us. We must hope for the best, spare no efforts to pursue our dreams, and prepare for the worst with a sound mind. May you have no regrets, and may you live up to a glorious youth!" This is DONG’s graduation wish.
