Journal of Geophysical Research, a flagship academic journal sponsored by the American Geophysical Union (AGU), was founded in 1896. It is divided into seven sections and publishes about 3,000 papers each year. At present, it is one of the top international academic journals with the highest quality, the broadest coverage and the largest number of publications in geophysical sciences.Journal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earthpublishes research papers focusing on geomagnetism, paleomagnetism, marine geology and marine geophysics, chemical and physical properties of minerals, rocks, volcanoes, seismology and active tectonics, geodesy and gravity, tectonics, and tectonophysics.

Professor Liu Jing combines techniques like infield observations, numerical modeling and chronological dating, to study the processes and mechanism of Tibetan Plateau uplift and geomorphic responses, the coupling of tectonics and surface processes and the associated nature hazards, and the Quaternary activity and seismic risk of active faults. She has received numerous awards, including the Chateaubriand Scholar in 2003, Hundred Talent Young Scientists of Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2006, Chinese Academy of Sciences’ Outstanding Female Scientists Award in 2008, National Distinguished Young Scholar in 2012, and the Outstanding Young Scientist in Tibetan Plateau Research Award in 2013. Currently, Prof. Liu Jing also serves as the associate director of the State Key Laboratory of Earthquake Dynamics, the chair of the Tectonic Geomorphology Committee, Seismological Society of China and the associate chair of Tectonic and Climate Committee, Chinese Association for Quaternary Research. She is a member of Tectonic and Geology Committee, Geological Society of China, a committee member of the China Society on Tibetan Plateau and a member of the Science and Technology Committee, China Earthquake Administration. Meanwhile, she is also the associate editor ofJournal of Geophysical Research, the editorial board member of several academic journals, such asChinese Science Bulletin, Science China, Tectonophysics, Seismology and Geology, Geological Bulletin of ChinaandEarthquake Research in China.
