Two New Undergraduate Programs Approved

Campus

Tianjin University was approved by the Ministry of Education to set up two new undergraduate programs, namely, Energy Storage Science and Engineering and Fine Chemicals. The two new programs, adhering to the principle of “facing the future, the world and the industry” and resonating with the national strategy and regional development, are in line with the socio-economic development trend, the rule of new science and industry revolution and the requirements of promoting and fostering the new future-oriented fields.

The Energy Storage and Engineering program responds to the national energy strategy and conforms to the trend of China's new engineering construction and international engineering education development. Led by TJU Qiushi Honors College and built with the joint efforts of School of Chemical Engineering and Technology, School of Mechanical Engineering, School of Material Science and Engineering and School of Electronic and Information Engineering, the program aims to cultivate the backbone forces who are to engage in scientific and theoretical research in the frontier field of energy and in the research and development of key original products and technologies of energy storage in enterprises’ R&D team.

The Fine Chemicals Program intersects with many fields such as medicine, pesticides and their intermediates, dyes and pigments, electronic chemicals including organic semiconductors and display materials, solar cell materials and devices, chemical power supply and materials, etc. It will advance the research work basic science and engineering technology and focus on the production of high value-added chemical products. Students who choose the program are expected to learn multi-disciplinary knowledge covering chemistry, physics, materials and engineering technology. The School of Chemical Engineering and Technology is in charge of program construction.
