Dr. Ji received two Ph.D. degrees, one in Applied Chemistry from Beijing University of Technology (China, 2014) and the other in Materials Science from Tohoku University (Japan, 2018). He was selected as a research fellow of the Japan Society For Promotion Science in 2016. In particular, employing a self-developed bilayer graphene foam as model electrode, Dr. Ji successfully clarified the electrochemical lithium-storage mechanism for graphitie and graphene from the atom-molecule level, and proposed a new graphitic interlayered centroid intercalation (ICIC) theory which can logically explaine the graphite intercalation chemistry.

- Dr. Ji serves as reviewers for some high-quality academic journals, including Nature series journals, Energy Storage Materials, Nano-Micro Letters, , and Chemical Engineering Journal. He is also a guest and a host for "Scientific Research Cloud" lecture series.
