Haoran Zhou, associate professor, completed my Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolutionary biology at University of Pennsylvania, and, then, was awarded a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Climate and Global Change postdoc fellowship to work at Yale University.
My research interests broadly focus on understanding the adaptation and evolution of plants and vegetation; how adaptations at physiological levels and biosphere lead to ecosystem- and landscape-level consequences, and, furthermore, vegetation-habitat-environment interactions under ancient and future global change. My research emphasizes on using a combination of models (e.g., physiology, ecological theory and evolution model, earth system models, genome-scale metabolic network model), empirical experiments (e.g., gas exchange, hydraulics, stable isotope, bioinformatics, microCT imaging) and large-scale data (e.g., eddy flux, remote sensing, GBIF geo-reference database).
I published articles in PNAS, Science Advances, Plant Cell and Environment, Tree Physiology, Environmental and Experimental Botany, and Photosynthesis Research and so on.
