Distinguished Professor of Marine Environmental Science and Biotechnology; Associate Dean of Undergraduate/International Education & International Affairs.
Dr. Wang received his Ph.D. in Microbiology at UC Davis in 2000 and thereafter joined Jay D. Keasling’s research group as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Chemical Engineering at UC Berkeley. In 2003, he joined the University of Hawaii at Manoa as an Associate Professor. In 2010, he joined Peking University at Shenzhen as a Distinguished Professor (Pengcheng Scholar, The Peacock Plan) and established Peking University Key Engineering Laboratory for Algal Biofuel and Biotechnology. In 2013, he joined Tianjin University as a Distinguished Professor (1,000-talent programs, Tianjin) of Marine Environmental Science and Biotechnology. Dr. Wang has authored over 50 peer-reviewed papers, chaired numerous sessions or panels for international conferences, and delivered numerous invited talks and lectures. Dr. Wang is members of Editorial Board for 2 international journals and a peer reviewer of over 25 international journals. He has been the PI or Co-PI of US federal research grants with a total of $7 million and is the PI of Chinese Governmental Grants with a total of over ¥30 million.
