Professor Wang is a doctoral supervisor in the School of Chemical Engineering in Tianjin University. He received his M.S., B.S. and Ph. D. degrees from Tianjin University in 1987, 1990 and 1993, respectively. Now, he is the director of Tianjin Key Laboratory of Membrane Science and Desalination Technology. He is mainly working on membranes and membrane processes for seawater desalination and gas separation. Besides, he has been the secretary of Party Committee in the School of Chemical Engineering since 2011.
He presides more than 42 scientific research projects, including two Key Programs of National Natural Science Foundation of China and one Public Science and Technology Research Funds Project of Ocean. As the backbone, he participates in 7 projects such as "973 Plan" , "863 Plan" and "National key research and development Plan". By April 2020, he has published 211 papers in international journals such as Nature Materials Advanced Materials, Angew, EES and AIChE Journal. He participated in writing 5 books. He has also obtained 26 authorized invention patents as the first inventor in China. In his research area, he has made great breakthrough in the synthesis of membrane materials, designing of membrane structures with excellent performances. He has also built two pilot production lines for reverse osmosis membrane and gas separation membrane, and a demonstration apparatus for methane decarbonization with membrane.
He is a member of the editorial board of Journal of Membrane Science and Membrane Water Treatment, a member of National Separation Membrane Standardization Technical Committee and China Membrane Industry Association Expert Committee. He achieved the first rank Tianjin Natural Science Award 2004 and the first rank National Teaching Achievement Award 2009.
