Brief Introduction

Prof. Gong has many years of experience in the research area of industrial crystallization, pharmaceutical and crystal engineering. He was an undergraduate student at Tianjin University(1991-1995), and got his Ph.D. degree from Department of Chemistry Engineering at Tianjin University(2001). Currently he is the vice director of the National Engineering Research Center of Industrial Crystallization Technology (NERCICT),  which is the only national research center in crystallization field that was approved in 2009 by Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) . He is also the vice director of Department of Chemical Engineering of School of Chemistry and Technology, Tianjin University. He is the member of the editorial board of two professional journals (Chinese Journal of Antibiotics and Frontiers of Chemical Science and Engineering). Recent honors include New Century Distinguished Young Professor Award (Ministry of Education, 2009), BeiYang Reserved Academic Program (2014) and Te-Pan Hou Chemical Engineering Youth Award (2015).

  •  Functional crystals (covalent organic frameworks, metal orgaic frameworks, optical crystals, elastic crystals, etc.)
  • Continuous crystallization (software development, process simulation, equipment design, product optimization, etc.)
  • Spherical crystallization (agglomeration-crushing mechanism, caking behavior, etc.)
  • Crystal engineering (design and screening of pharmaceutical polymorphism, co-crystals, solvates, amorphous forms, salts, MOF, COF, etc.),
  • Nucleation mechanism (molecular pathways, additive-solvent effect, polymorphic nucleation, etc.)
  • Powder engineering (improvement of crystal size distribution, bulk density, flowability, etc.)
  • Growth law (morphology control, influence mechanism, etc.),
  • Crystal habit engineering (control of needle-like, flake and granular crystals),
  • Process analysis (in-situ informatization technology, crystallization phase transformation, intelligent feedback control, etc.),
