Zhang lei was graduated from Harbin Institute of Technology as Bachelor of Engineering. He received his Msc degree from Univeristy of Sheffield in 2006, where he worked with Professor Anthony R. West and Professor Derek C. Sinclair on electroceramics focusing on the dielectric and piezoelectric properties of materials. He obtained a full scholarship for PhD at Heriot-Watt University in 2008 and received his Doctor degree in 2012. Zhang lei carried out a series research on fuel cells including electrode development, cell fabrication and multiple evaluation and characterization. He continually worked in sustainable energy at University of Strathclyde as research associate from 2011 to 2013. Zhang lei joined Tianjin University at School of Chemical Engineering and Technology as an associate professor in 2013. He is currently leading two projects from NSFC and one project from Ministry of Education. He has published and co-authored more than 20 JCR-indexed papers. Zhang lei was awarded Tianjin "A thousand high-level talents introduced in three years" in 2014 and Tianjin "The thousand youth talents plan" in 2015.
