Brief Introduction

Dr. Chang obtained his Bachelor degree in Medicine in 1986 and M.D. in Toxicology in 1991, both from Tianjin Medical University. In 1994, he obtained his Ph.D. in Polymer Chemistry and Physics from Institute of Polymer Chemistry at Nankai University. He then had two years of post-doctoral training at School of Chemical Engineering, Tianjin University. He was a senior visiting scholar at the College of Pharmacy, University of Michigan from 2000 to 2002. Dr. Chang became the Director and Professor of the Institute of Nanobiotechnology (INBT), School of Material Science & Engineering at Tianjin University in Aug. 2002. From 2019, Dr. Chang appointed as the Director of the Institute of Nanobiomedicine, School of Life Science at Tianjin University.

His research focuses on the nanobiomedical technogy applied to the therapy and diagnosis of diseases, such as targeted and controlled release of gene/drug delivery systems, quantum dot-based test strips for detecting tumor markers and multifunctional nanoprobes for cancer imaging and therapy. He has received more than 50  government grants, including the Key Project of National Research and Development of China, National High Technology Program of China, National Basic Research Special Program of China, National Natural Science Foundation and etc. The Cumulative research funding is more than 38 million RMB. He has authored and co-authored more than 300 publications in peer-reviewed journals and 3 edited books and authorized 38 Chinese invention patents. The total SCI impact factor is over 1200.

Dr. Chang has received numerous awards and prizes. He won the First Prize of Tianjin Nature Science Award in 2018 and the First Prize of Tianjin Science and Technology Progress Award  in  2012 , 2013 and 2017. He was honored National Outstanding Scientist by Chinese Association of  Science and Technology in 2014.

       Dr. Chang has been very active in a variety of committees and organizations. He is the Vice President of Chinese Society of Particles, the Director of Nanomedicine and Engineering Committee of  Chinese Society of Biomedical Engineering, the President of Tianjin Society of Biomedical Engineering and the Director of Tianjin Engineering  Research Center of  Micro-Nanobiomaterials and Detective and Treatment Technology .

Team
Nanobiotechnology Team of Tianjin University
The team consists of 3 professors, 2 associate professors, 2 lecturers and more than 40 doctoral and master students. The team relies on the high-end technology platform of Tianjin Micro-Nano Biomaterials and Inspection and Treatment Engineering Technology Center and the Nanobiomedical Research Institute of Tianjin University of Science and Technology to carry out the foundation and application of nano-biomedical materials and technologies in the diagnosis and treatment of major diseases such as tumors and Alzheimer's. Research and complete the transformation of scientific research results. The team has trained more than 120 doctoral and master graduate students. Among them, many students won the "National Baosteel Student Special Scholarship", "Special prize of Tianjin University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition" , "Special prize of Tianjin Challenge Cup College Students Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Competition", "Tianjin Excellent Doctoral Dissertation".The first prize of the Youth Forum Contest of the Society of Biomedical Engineering, the "Tianjin University Student Model", and the "Tianjin University Student Science Award" etc. From 2017 to 2018, the team won the titles of "Tianjin Educational System Labor Competition Demonstration Group", "Tianjin University Labor Competition Demonstration Group" and "Tianjin University Gold Medal Vitality Laboratory".
