Brief Introduction

Raised in a beautiful village with river-land valley to densely populated location, Mostofa completed his education from Primary to Higher Secondary School locally from Thana-level Institutions and then went on to attend University in Dhaka. He received his both Bachelor of Science (1990) and Master of Science (1991) degrees in Chemistry from Jahangirnagar University, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Mostofa received his second Master’s degree (2001) from Nagoya University, Japan on Earth Science conducting research in the Lake Biwa watershed on an important issue regarding the interactions and consequences of terrestrial (stream-river) natural organic matter on the lake water; and doctoral degree (2005) from Hiroshima University, Japan in the field of Environmental Dynamics and Management conducting research on Photochemistry along with the dynamics of dissolved organic matter in stream-river ecosystem. Mostofa then joined as a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute of Geochemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China, 2006–2008. He has then been appointed as Associate Professor in the same Institute on 2008 and worked until December 2014. Mostofa was the founding member to join as a Professor since January 2015 at a newly established– Institute of Surface-Earth System Science (ISESS), Tianjin University which is founded on April 2015. Mostofa worked as key researcher on several international projects, particularly on the Montreal Protocol Project entitled ‘Institutional Strengthening for the Phase out of ODSs in Bangladesh’, 1996–1999, Bangladesh and the global “International Geosphere-Biosphere Program (IGBP)” project, 1999–2001, Japan. Mostofa served as reviewer for several international peer-reviewed Journals. One of his most outstanding research works is to publish the book “Photobiogeochemistry of Organic Matter: Principles and Practices in Water Environments” by Springer on 2013 along with collaboration with many distinguished International Scientists around the world.
