Hongxia Zhao, Associate Professor. Her research focuses on the interdisciplinary fields of supramolecular chemistry, medicinal chemistry and green pesticides. Research interests cover the construction and biological applications of macrocyclic arene supramolecular systems, the development of fluorescent calixarene theranostic agents targeting the Warburg effect, the design of drug molecules with high bioavailability for central nervous system, as well as the design, synthesis and bioactivity evaluation of green pesticide molecules. She has presided over the Youth Project of National Natural Science Foundation of China, Youth Project of Tianjin Natural Science Foundation and many university research projects. As one of the course directors of the national first-class course Basic Chemistry Experiment, she undertakes undergraduate experimental teaching. She also serves as Undergraduate Admissions Secretary for Hubei Province, responsible for undergraduate admissions promotion and consultation. She guides students to participate in competitions including experimental skill contests and Pharmaceutical Forum, winning national and provincial awards.
