Dr Lin Zhi is currently a Professor at the School of Life Sciences, Tianjin University. He received his PhD degree in Structural Biology from the National University of Singapore in 2006. After serving as a Research Fellow at the Department of Biological Sciences and Senior Research Fellow at the Department of Physiology at the National University of Singapore, he joined Tianjin University in late 2015 . His current research interests are protein structures, functions and bioengineering (http://www.linzhi.net).

- High-performance silk-based biomaterials: This research focuses on the structure-based engineering and design of fibroins for the production of artificial silk materials with desirable and tunable mechanical properties for potential industry, medical and military applications.
- Structural mechanisms of signaling: This research targets a variety of signaling proteins related to human development and diseases, including nerve growth & injury, cancers, and microbial infection.
