Xiaodong Chen, male, born in 1975, professor and doctoral tutor of Tianjin University, department chairman of School of photoelectric Information Science Engineering, the winner of "New Century Excellent Talents" of China’s Ministry of Education. He is also the executive director of the Photoelectric Technical Committee of Chinese Optical Society, the executive director of the Image Science and Engineering Branch of Chinese Instrument Society, the executive director of the Tianjin Optical Society and the member of the Optical Education Committee of Chinese optical society.
For the aspect of teaching, he was the compiler of the "Eleventh • Five-Year" national planning textbook "Digital Image Acquisition and Processing" in 2007, the director of the "Photoelectric Image Processing" which won the national excellent course in 2008, the subeditor of the "Eleventh • Five-Year" national planning textbook "Application Technology of Image Sensor" in 2008 and the compiler of the electronic information and electrical science planning textbook "Experiment and Design of Photoelectric Information" in 2011. And in 2009, he awarded the second prize of national teaching achievement and ranked 8th in "The construction and reform of "Engineering Optics" excellent course".
For the aspect of scientific research, his research interests focus on the photoelectric detection technology and instrument, image processing, machine vision detection which include electronic endoscopic imaging, ultrasonic endoscope imaging, OCT endoscopic imaging, cardiovascular 3D image reconstruction and so on.
In recent years, he has undertaken and completed 17 projects including the National "Thirteen • Five-Year" Science and Technology Support Plan, the National "Twelve• Five-Year" Science and Technology Support Plan, the National "Ten • Five-Year" Scientific Problem Tackling, the National "863" project, the Instrument special research project and surface project of the National Natural Science Foundation and projects at the provincial and ministerial level. In 2011, the "Electronic Endoscope Technology and Its Applications" won the Science and Technology Progress Second Award from China’s Ministry of Education and ranked 2ed. In 2016, "the Product Prototype of Endoscopic Ultrasonography of Digestive Tract" was identified by the Ministry of science and technology.
In 2009 and 2011, he went to the American University of Oklahoma twice to collaborate on projects and participate in two NIH R01 projects, which are "Automated FISH Imaging and the Analysis for Screening Cervical Cancer" (CA136700), and "A computer aided chromosome imaging technique for cancer diagnosis "(CA115320).
He has published over 180 papers in academic journals and international conferences in recent years, including 23 SCI retrieved and 90 EI retrieved. He has 6 authorized Chinese invention patents and one Japanese invention patent. He was also the compiler of an English monograph.
