Since I obtained Ph. D degree of optical engineering in 1998, I joined the research group for medical optical imaging and instrument led by Prof. Daoyin Yu until 2003. In the Project of "Development of medical electronic endoscope" ("Nine Five" science and technology key task), I was responsible for ultra small-size and ultra wide-angle objective design. The excellent achievement and award of the project were highly attracted me into the research aspect of optical design. Constructing more powerful "eyes" utilizing optical design technique is extremely significant to modern industrial, medical and military fields.
Actually, it is not easy for me to start a new research orientation. Relying on confidence and interests of myself, I have learnt a lot and accumulated a lot of experiences in optical design of imaging and non-imaging system with complex structure. Completed projects, independently or cooperate with other teams, covered industrial, medical, military and other areas.
Design of civil and medical optical instruments including: I have designed a variety of endoscopes for a number of cooperative companies, which has been already in mass production. I cooperated with Fujian Wide Plus Precision Instruments Co., Ltd. in various light-guide-plate design, which has small batch production. I completed the design of F1.0 wide-angle lens for digital X-ray machine, which was the first high quality domestic DR equipment and have been produced by Beijing Wandong Medical Equipment Co., Ltd for many years.
Design of military optical instruments including: I have established a long-term cooperative relationship with several military research institutes (more than 3 projects in each institutes), and most of the achievements belong to the practical application equipment, including 5 different types of Laser Fuze, high speed photographic apparatus for 5 different applications, a variety of infrared sub band / polarization imaging system, 50X zoom inspection system, UAV formation, refueling, landing system and ultra small-size infrared zoom system, engine shaft hole measuring system and so on.
Due to modern scientific research work requiring cooperation between multidisciplinary knowledge and interdisciplinary talent persons, I pay special attention to cooperate with other scientists in different research fields. For example, I have worked together with more than half of the research groups of Measurement & Control Technology (Precision instrumentation), accomplishing the design and manufacture of a variety of optical testing instruments. As the sub-project responsible person, I also participated in the completion of three national projects.
