On November 18, 2016, the award ceremony of the first 10 “International Students Practice Base" in Tianjin Binhai New Area was held. Tianjin University’s Binhai Industrial Research Institute was among the list.
The ceremony was hosted by Shi Hao, Vice Director of the Human Resources Department of the District Social Insurance Office.
Attaching importance to the education of overseas students is an historical tradition of Tianjin University. Since Tianjin University recruited the first batch of foreign students in 1954, more than 20,000 overseas students from over 140 countries have been cultivated, including undergraduate, graduate, and post graduate students majoring in chemistry, precision instruments, machinery, architecture, electronics, materials, information, computers, management, Chinese language and other disciplines. Many outstanding alumni play active roles in various global industries, making positive contributions to Sino-foreign exchange and cooperation.
The establishment of the “International Students Practice Base " will help overseas students understand the Chinese economy and enterprise development and help turn overseas students into international talent with professional skills and practical experience. As Tianjin University opened up a new model it allows both the university and enterprise to cultivate high-quality talent. It will help overseas students in obtaining internships in outstanding enterprises, thus deepening their understanding of development results, potential, and policy advantages for the coastal ecological environment and humanistic environment in the Binhai New Area. Hence it can encourage them to work in those outstanding enterprises and it also opens up a new model of inviting overseas talent and intelligence, providing a further incentive to liberalize the extent that overseas students can work in China.
