
On November 10, 2015, Professor Archie Johnston was conferred as an Honorary Professor of Tianjin University. Professor Johnston is the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies of the University of Sydney. The professor was conferred as an Honorary by Tianjin University’s Vice President Professor Yuan Yingjin.

During the ceremony, Professor Yuan extended a warm welcome to Professor Johnston, and introduced the university’s current development, strengths, the achievements in key disciplines, and the future developmental plan. He expressed a keenness for further cooperation and student exchanges between the two universities in order to advance the internationalization strategies of Tianjin University. Deputy Director Wang made a brief introduction of Professor Johnston’s academic achievements.
Professor Johnston highly praised Tianjin University’s excellent academic environment, and appreciated the support and opportunity from the university. He indicated that he would try his best to contribute to the progress of Tianjin University.
As a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering (ATSE), Engineers Australia, the Institution of Civil Engineers (London) and the Australian Institute of Company Directors, as well as a Former President of Australian Council of Engineering, Professor Johnston is one of the most influential engineers in Australia. He has been Peer Reviewer for the 2010 Excellence in Research for Australia, a member of the Judging Panel of 2010, 2011 and 2012 Prime Minister's Science Prizes and Chair of the Judging Panel for the 2009 Australian Construction Achievement Awards.
