The Shimano Student Grants Ceremony was successfully held at Tianjin University in the School of Mechanical Engineering on November 11, 2015. Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Mechanical Engineering Liu Qiuju, the Counselor Gan Yaoqiong as well as the students who received the financial aids took part in the event. They warmly welcomed the General Manager Mr. Xie Jinsheng, the Administration Manager Mr. Situ Jianyong and their delegation on their arrival.
Liu Qiuju, on behalf of the school expressed her heartfelt appreciation for the support of the educational development and the aid provided to tstudents from poor families. Thereafter, she introduced the development of various specialties and subjects of the school and hoped that more industrial-university-research cooperation with the Shimano Company would be conducted. At the same time she expressed the hope that more excellent students of Tianjin University could work in the Shimano Company and fulfill their ambitions. Mr. Xie Jinsheng then introduced the history of the company and their impact on the world bicycling scene. Meanwhile, he spoke affectionately about TJU's education and expressed the ardent expectations to the students provided with the aid.
After the ceremony, the distinguished guests, teachers and the students supported took pictures. An undergraduate student of the 2012 class, Zhang Xiaojun, on behalf of the students who had received the aid, expressed their sincere appreciation to the Shimano Company, and stated that they had planned to work hard and hoped that one day he and his fellow students could work with a company like Shimano which is respected for its social responsibilities. Finally, the students consulted with the principal and asked questions about their internship, research and development as well as employment with the company. The principal patiently answered each question and encouraged all students to work hard and pass on the love.
Shimano (Tianjin) Bicycle Spare Parts Limited Company, a wholly-owned company of Singapore established a company in Tianjin in April 2003. It mainly makes technological and innovative products which include bicycle spare parts, replacement tools of bicycles, angling gears, auto parts as well as power tools. In order to support the educational development of Tianjin University and to honor and help the hard working students facing financial difficulties the, Shimano Company decided to establish the “Shimano Student Grants at Tianjin University” in the School of Mechanical Engineering from 2004. From then on, the company donates 50,000 yuan each year in order to encourage students to work hard, develop themselves in an all-around manner and render service to the nation.
