  • · Experimental Fluid Dynamics:
    Prof. Shen has working on the measurement of air environment since his PhD study. He was appling a 2D Laser Doppler Anemometer and Ultrasonic Anemometer to measure the air distribution in scaled and in-situ experiment.

  • · Indoor Pollutant Control: The main reseach of this topic was to apply ventilation measures for the control of polluted air transportion.

  • · Numerical Fluid Dynamics: The main topic related with this subject was the numerical simulation of air fluid field involving Direct Numerical Simulation.

I was:

  • Earned Ph.D. Degree at Department of Engineering, Aarhus University, Denmark in 2012.  B. Eng. Degree in 2007and M.S. Degree from China Agricultural University  in 2009.

  • Specially appointed researcher and doctoral supervisor in the field of Building Environment and Energy Application Engineering at the School of Environmental Science and Engineering, Tianjin University. 

  • Assistant Chief Scientist of the National Thousand Talents Program and 973 Project, and a key member of the Building Environment Research Team. 

  • Received "131" Innovative Talents in Tianjin, and Entrepreneurial Shortage Talents in Xiqing District, Tianjin.

  • Received Young Backbone Teacher of Beiyang Scholars at Tianjin University

  • Served as Long term technical researcher of the computational fluid dynamics direction in Tianjin University

  • Host as aMD-82 aircraft platform experimenter at Tianjin University

  • Took charge of the ventilation course at Tianjin University. 

Main research direction is indoor air environment creation; Experimental and computational fluid dynamics;

Since 2015, I have undertaken 1 National Natural Science Foundation project, 1 Tianjin Natural Science Foundation project, led 16 other projects, participated in 8 projects (including 3 national major special sub projects), and received over 15 million yuan in funds. The funding sources include the Ministry of Science and Technology, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Ministry of Education, Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Boeing Company of the United States, ANSYS Company of the United States, Power Construction Corporation of China, Vanke Group, Beijing Gas Group, XX Institute of the Academy of Military Sciences, etc:

  • Research on simulation methods for natural ventilation in thermal industrial workshops under the National Natural Science Foundation of China Youth Project.

  • Research on the risk of gaseous pollutant spillage in industrial workshops under the Tianjin Natural Science Foundation Youth Project. 

  • Participated in major national engineering research projects: 

  • Research on indoor ventilation strategies and indoor air quality creation for residential buildings, as well as key technologies for oil and paint mist emission characteristics and control in industrial workshops, under the National Key R&D Program for Green Building and Industrialization in the 13th Five Year Plan of the Ministry of Science and Technology. 

  • Research on Artificial Cabin Air Environment: Optimization design of ventilation system and airflow organization for Tiangong-2 space station, optimization design of cabin airflow organization for domestic C919 aircraft, testing of particle propagation in cabin of domestic CR929 aircraft, and research on optimization design of cabin, cockpit, and cabin thermal environment for ARJ regional aircraft. Participated in the testing and research of airflow field, temperature field, and pollutant transmission risk under personalized air supply conditions in the cabin of Boeing aircraft, an internationally renowned enterprise, and the simulation modeling method and on-site verification technology of ANSYS aircraft environmental control system in the United States. Conducted experimental testing on particle propagation in the cabin. 

  • Project leader for teaching and training in the field of ANSYS domestic fluid numerical simulation, and have undertaken one collaborative education project between industry and academia under the Ministry of Education of China.

  • Hosted the design of airflow organization for healthy residential buildings, created the thermal environment for the semi underground plant of Xunyang Hydropower Station in Shaanxi, conducted research on the underground thermal environment of Wendeng Pumped Storage Power Station in Shandong, studied the ice melting technology for the water system of Dunhua Pumped Storage Power Station in Jilin, researched the dehumidification technology for the HVAC system of Qingyuan Pumped Storage Power Station in Liaoning, conducted numerical simulation experiments on the permanent ventilation and air conditioning system of the underground plant of Shangyi Pumped Storage Power Station in Hebei

  • Studied the temperature and humidity compliance scheme for the construction environment of the membrane type LNG storage tank in Beijing Gas Group, conducted dynamic simulation research on the BOG of large LNG membrane tanks

Published over 60 academic papers in total. Authorized over 20 patents and authored 2 monographs. The achievement has won the Excellent Paper Award of academic journals, the Second Prize of Tianjin Natural Science Award, the Second Prize of Tianjin Technical Invention, and the First Prize of Science and Technology of China Simulation Association.associate Professor at the School of Environmental Science and Engineering of Tianjin University since 2015.

BERL (Built Environment Research Laboratory)

Built Environment Research Laboratory (BERL) at Tianjin University founded in 2009 belongs to the Department of Building Environment and Energy Application of the School of Environmental Science and Engineering. BERL is directed by Dr. Qingyan Chen, Changjiang Chair Professor. BERL has another professor, five associate professors, five Guest/Adjunct Professors, and more than 30 graduate research assistants, who make the whole team energetic and dynamic.
