Dr. Xu is engaged in teaching and research in integrated circuit design. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses including:
Sensor System Design,Mixed-Signal Design,Advanced Analog Integrated Circuits,MOS VLSI Analysis and Design,Frontiers of Engineering and Technology in Microelectronics
His research focuses on image sensor chips and mixed-signal integrated circuits.He has led more than 30 research projects, including:
National Science and Technology Major Project,National Key Research and Development Program,Key Program of National Natural Science Foundation of China,Tianjin Major Artificial Intelligence Project,Industrial cooperation projects
He has achieved breakthroughs in key technologies for:
Biomimetic intelligent vision sensing chips,Time-of-Flight (ToF) 3D imaging chips,Low-light high-dynamic-range imaging chips,Hundred-megapixel large-format imaging chips,Single-photon imaging chips,More than 10 high-end image sensor chips have been successfully developed. As first author or corresponding author, he has published over 100 academic papers in high-level SCI journals such as IEEE JSSC, TCASI, TED, and Science China.He holds more than 80 authorized invention patents as the first inventor.He is the chief editor of the monograph Analysis and Design of Image Sensor Chips and participated in formulating the national standard Test Methods for Integrated Circuit CMOS Image Sensors.
He has supervised more than 100 master’s and doctoral students.
He supervised doctoral student Xiaopei Shi, whose project A Biomimetic Vision Intelligent CMOS Image Sensor with Sensing-Computing Integration won the National Gold Award in the China International College Students’ Innovation Competition (2023). He supervised doctoral student Quanmin Chen, whose project High-Definition Depth Vision Perception Chip and System Based on Optical Time-of-Flight won the National Gold Award in the China International College Students’ Innovation Competition (2024).
Many research achievements have been industrialized.
