Brief Introduction

Le Song, Associate Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at the School of Precision Instruments and Opto-Electronics Engineering, Tianjin University (TJU), serves as Assistant Dean. He is currently a key member of the Micro-Nano Manufacturing Team (MNMT) of TJU and heads the Soft Matter Mechanics and Intelligent Equipment Laboratory (SMILE Lab). His primary research focuses on optical force sensing and multi-modal information fusion methods. He has led three National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) General Programs, one sub-project under the National Science & Technology Pillar Program, four provincial/ministerial-level research projects, and several industry-sponsored projects.

 

He has received awards including the First Prize in the Tianjin Young University Teachers Teaching Competition, the First Prize of Tianjin Technological Invention Award, the First and Second Prizes of the Science and Technology Progress Award from the China Instrument and Control Society, and the Third Prize of the Science and Technology Progress Award from the Chinese Society for Measurement. He has been selected as a "Peiyang Scholar - Young Core Teacher" and honored with titles such as TJU Outstanding Young Teacher, "Good Mentor in My Mind," and Outstanding Mentor. Under his guidance, students have won over 100 awards in various scientific innovation competitions, including the national "Stellar" award in the "Challenge Cup" Black Technology Specialized Competition, the First Prize in the iCAN China National Finals, the Gold Award in Tianjin for the "Internet+" Competition, and the Special Prize in Tianjin for the "Challenge Cup" Competition.

 

He serves as a reviewer for journals such as Soft Robotics, Measurement, Optics Express, Optics and Lasers in Engineering, and Acta Photonica Sinica, and is a Young Editorial Board Member for Nanotechnology and Precision Engineering. His additional professional roles include serving as a Technical Review Expert for National Reference Materials, an expert on the Technical Expert Group of the Electronic Measuring Instruments Working Committee of the China Metrology Association, Council Member of the National University Research Society on Fundamentals of Interchangeability and Measurement Technology, Committee Member of the Force Tactile Perception and Interaction Professional Committee of the China Instrument and Control Society, Committee Member of the Precision Engineering & Micro-Nano Technology/Testing Technology Committee under the Production Engineering Branch of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, and Deputy Director of the Tianjin Metrology Technology Committee for Mechanics.

 

He has published over 40 papers as first or corresponding author in journals including Advanced Materials, IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics, and Pattern Recognition, and holds more than 30 authorized national invention patents as the first inventor. His research achievements have been reported by media outlets such as China Science Daily, Science and Technology Daily, EurekAlert, and Physics.org.

 

The research group is consistently recruiting graduate students with research interest and professional background in areas including robotic multi-modal perception, flexible manufacturing, optical measurement of mechanics, and medical-engineering interdisciplinary studies.
